Montmartre at sunrise
Sunrise offers an unusual reading of the hill: streets return to activity, deliveries begin and light moves quickly across façades. This route does not promise a visible sunrise every day. It favours public streets, several possible orientations and a summit arrival only when conditions allow.

Arrive via Lamarck–Caulaincourt, cross the northern slope without obstructing deliveries, then reach rues des Saules and Cortot. Choose the forecourt if the sky is clear, or descend towards Abbesses to watch the neighbourhood open. Check the actual dawn time, weather and first metro journey the evening before.

Northern slope
Begin on residential streets where the light remains soft. Walk quietly, keep doorways clear and allow service vehicles to manoeuvre.
Vineyard and rue Cortot
Pass the Clos Montmartre railings and continue to rue Cortot. Paid venues will generally be closed at this hour, so enjoy public space only.
Choose the viewpoint
The forecourt offers a broad view, but weather decides the result. In poor visibility, focus instead on façades, shadows and shops beginning their day.
Descend for breakfast
Continue to Abbesses or Caulaincourt and check actual café and bakery hours. Do not build the route around a place assumed to be open.
